Jerry Heller was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio in October 1940. He is best known for being the manager of the rap group N.W.A. as well as Eazy-E. Heller gained fame when he imported Pink Floyd and Elton John for their first major American tours in the 1960s and 1970s. Over the years he has represented artists such as Marvin Gaye, Journey, Van Morrison, Average White Band, War, Eric Burdon, ELO, Ike & Tina Turner, Crosby Stills and Nash, Otis Redding, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Grand Funk Railroad, the Who, Styx, Black Sabbath, Four Tops, REO Speedwagon, Jose Feliciano, Dr. John, and more. Heller is looked at as a pioneer of the West Coast rap music movement. He co-founded Ruthless Records with Eazy-E and helped groups like the Black Eyed Peas and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. He served in the United States Army and opened the Heller-Fischel Agency in Beverly Hills, California. Heller’s memoir Ruthless: A Memoir was published in 2006. He will be played by Paul Giamatti in the movie Straight Outta Compton in 2015.
