Net Worth $35 million
Kandi Burruss is an American singer-songwriter, television personality and record producer with an estimated net worth of $35 million. She is 5’7″ and weighs 163 pounds. Burruss has written hit songs like TLC’s “No Scrubs” and Destiny’s Child’s “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Bug a Boo”. Kandi Burruss was born on May 17, 1972 in Atlanta, Georgia. Her father abandoned the family when she was four, leaving her mother to raise Kandi and her brother, who would tragically die when she was a teenager. Kandi showed a strong vocation for music early on and first came to the attention of a larger audience BET’s Teen Summit. She would later join the band Xscape, which had a string of hits in the 1990s.
After Xscape disbanded, Kandi joined one of her bandmates and began to concentrate on songwriting and the two enjoyed immediate success. They wrote the hit single “No Scrubs,” which would go on to win them a Grammy. Kandi parlayed that success into several writing credits and hits with Destiny’s Child, including “The Writing’s on the Wall,” “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Bug a Boo.” The string of hit songwriting credits established Kandi as a songwriting force and she would go on to work with such heavyweight performers as Pink, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Usher, NSYNC and Whitney Houston. She would be named ASCAP’s Songwriter of the Year in 2000, the first African-American ever to win the award.
While she achieved unprecedented success as a songwriter, she continued devoting energy to her own performance ability, recording her own album in 2000 and another in 2006, although neither attracted too much buzz. In 2009, Kandi’s celebrity profile would skyrocket when she joined Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta reality show. Bravo also announced that it would produce another reality show, The Kandi Factory, which follows Kandi as she tries to make to up-and-coming musicians stars. She also has a sex and relationship webshow. Kandi has a daughter from a previous relationship and is engaged to marry Todd Tucker.
