Jewel Kilcher is an American singer-songwriter and musician with an estimated net worth of $30 million. She is 5’6″ and weighs 124 pounds. Jewel Kilcher was born in Payson, Utah on May 23, 1974. Shortly after her birth her family moved to Homer, Alaska where she was raised. Kilcher lived with her father Atz Kilcher in the Alaskan wilderness. Her childhood home did not have indoor plumbing. She had to use an outhouse. Kilcher and her father would sing at local bars and taverns to earn money. She learned to yodel from a young age due to her experience singing in bars.
Jewel learned to play the guitar while attending the Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan. At the age of 16 she began to write songs. For some time, Jewel lived out of her car as she traveled around the country performing street acts and various gigs. In the early 1990s Jewel started to earn recognition as a singer at the Inner Change Coffeehouse and Java Joe’s in San Diego. In 1994 she was discovered by Inga Vainshtein during one of her coffeehouse performances. Vainshtein became Jewel’s manager and got her a record deal with Atlantic Records.
Jewel’s debut album Pieces of You was released in 1995 and became one of the top selling debut album of all time going 15 times platinum. Three singles from her first album charted on Billboard‘s Hot 100, “Who Will Save Your Soul”, “You Were Meant for Me”, and “Foolish Games”. Jewel has gone on to release 11 studio albums since her debut album. The songstress is signed on to be a judge on the fourth season of the televised musical competition The Sing-Off.
