Former English cricketer and corporate executive, Phil Edmonds has a net worth of $21 million as of May 2012, according to the Sunday Times UK Rich List. The left-arm spinner, took five wickets on his Test debut against Australia at Leeds in 1975. He took 125 wickets during a 12-year Test career, but it was at county level where he excelled. His partnership with “spin twin” John Emburey helped Middlesex to County Championship and one-day success. Even on the field his business brain was hard at work and he was credited with being one of the first players to secure a commercial product endorsement, wearing a Swatch watch while bowling. He played for Middlesex until 1992 by which time he was developing his business career. Phil was born in Lusaka, Northern Rhodesia, he built a succession of oil companies largely in Africa. His one big success, Central African Mining and Exploration, was sold in 2009, netting Edmonds £8 million for his stake. He is married to the author, Frances Edmonds, and they have a daughter.
