LL Cool J is an American rapper and actor with an estimated net worth of $85 million. He is 6’2″ and weighs 215 pounds. James Todd Smith AKA LL Cool J was born on January 14, 1968 in Long Island, New York. After adopting his stage name which stands for “Ladies Love Cool James”, a sixteen year old LL signed with Def Jam records in 1984 and released his successful debut album Radio, which garnered two hit singles “Rock the Bells” and “I Can’t Live Without My Radio.” His second album Bigger and Deffer followed in 1987 and earned the rapper another hit song with the ballad “I Need Love.”
In 1990, LL released his fourth album Mama Said Knock You Out which would become his most successful project to date. The album’s title track was a massive hit, topping several charts and garnering the rapper his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. LL had continued critical and commercial success with1995’s Mr. Smith. The album had two chart-toppers “Doin’ It” and “Hey Lover,” which earned the rapper his second Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. By the late 2000s, LL released six more albums as well as establishing himself as a legitimate actor with big screen performances in Any Given Sunday (1999), Deliver Us from Eva (2003), and S.W.A.T (2003).
As well as music and acting, LL also has co-authored the fitness book LL Cool J’s Platinum Workout: Sculpt Your Best Body Ever with Hollywood’s Fittest Star and began successful clothing line FUBU and music labels Rock the Bells Records and Boomdizzle.com Since 2008, the entertainer has starred as “Special Agent Sam Hanna” on CBS’s hit military crime drama NCIS: Los Angeles, which is currently in its fifth season. Residing in Studio City, Los Angeles, LL has four children with his wife Simone.
