Iginla started his ice hockey career when by playing goaltender in his first two years of organized hockey, eventually switching to the right wing.
When he was 15 years old, he played his entire minor hockey career in St. Albert, with 87 points for the St. Albert Midget Raiders in 1992–93.
He was a member of the Calgary Flames from 1996-2013, serving as captain for nine seasons.
As a junior, he was a member of two Memorial Cup winning teams with the Kamloops Blazers and was named the Western Hockey League’s Player of the Year in 1996.
