He made his major league debut in 1995. He was a struggling starting pitcher early in his career and he was converted to a relief pitcher.

Mariano Rivera established himself as one of baseball’s top relievers the following years and he lead the major league in saves in 1999, 2001 and 2004. He has been a key contributor to the success of the Yankees in the late 1990s and 200s for his presence in the late innings of games to record the final outs.
