Clayton Kershaw is an American baseball athlete who currently plays in the Major League Baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers as the team’s pitcher. In 2013, he received an annual salary of $11 million.
Clayton Edward Kershaw was born on March 19, 1988 in Dallas, Texas, USA. Instead of pursuing his initial commitment to Texas A&M University, Kershaw decided to decline the university’s scholarship offer to sign with the Dodgers, who offered him a signing bonus of $2.3 million. Later on, he was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers as a first round (seventh overall pick) of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft.
Debuting into the league in 2008, Clayton Kershaw has played for the Dodgers ever since. In 2012, he was signed by the Dodgers to a two-year, $19 million contract – the second most expensive contract given to a player in his debut year of arbitration, second only to Tim Lincecum’s two-year $22 million contract.
To date, Clayton Kershaw has been selected to All Star thrice (2011, 2012, 2013). In addition to that, he has been a recipient of Roberto Clemente Award, NL Cy Young Award, NL Triple Crown and Golden Glove Award.
