Chase Cameron Utley was born on December 17, 1978 in Pasadena, California, USA. He attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where he was considered a star baseball player. After high school, he studied at the University of California Los Angeles.
After college, Utley was selected as a first round (15th overall) pick by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2000 Amateur Draft. Since 2003, he has been playing for the Phillies. In January 2007, Utley got married, and a day later, he was signed by the Phillies to a seven year, $85-million contract extension. In August 2013, Utley reportedly signed a contract extension worth $27 million over the next two years.
In 2009, he ranked sixth on the 50 greatest current baseball players’ list by the Sporting News. From 2006 through 2010, Utley was selected to All Star. He was also a four-time Silver Slugger Award winner. With the Phillies, he was a World Series Champion in 2008.
After almost five years of marriage, Chase Utley and his wife Jennifer, welcomed their first son named Benjamin Cooper Utley in December 2011.
