Bryce Aron Max Harper was born on October 16, 1992 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. After attending Las Vegas High School, Harper studied at the College of Southern Nevada. In 2010, he was selected as the first overall pick by the Washington Nationals in the MLB Entry Draft.
Eventually, he was signed by the Nationals to a five-year, $9.9 million contract, which included a signing bonus of $6.25 million. Harper debuted into the MLB with the Nationals in 2012 in a match against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After he was named High School Player of the Year by Baseball America in 2009, Harper became the recipient of the Golden Spikes Award a year later. Prior to the start of the 2012 season, he was named as among the top three prospects by several baseball prospect-watchers which include MLB.com, Baseball Prospectus, and Baseball America.
